Okay you know what, this is disgusting.
Children have no control what kind of family they’re born into, they have no control whether or not mommy or daddy has a job, or if they went to high school, or if they just sit around and do nothing all day. NO CONTROL.
For children in poverty receiving free or reduced lunch this might be the ONLY meal they eat all day. The only meal they don’t feel guilty about eating because they’re not being a burden to their parents or siblings. Some of them do feel shame because of people who make them feel shame for taking free lunch.
You can talk all the shit you want about welfare for adults but welfare programs for children are essential. Children are helpless, they have no control over their situations and programs like free lunch are sometimes the only thing that helps children in poverty survive.
Side note: I don’t know if that’s even what this graphic means, but that’s how I interpreted it. So there’s my rant of the day.
This is fucking hilarious.
This political cartoon is not an indictment of free or reduced lunches at schools. This is an indictment of the economic illiteracy that permeates the left’s (and right’s) political platforms.
Your reaction to this image proves that you probably never took an economics course, or if you did then you had a horrible teacher who didn’t even teach you the basic premises that economics is founded on.
Do yourself a favor a watch Milton Friedman explain that there is no such thing as a free lunch.
